Nashville Davidson County Motor Vehicle Emissions Testing Locations Claimed

All 1975 and newer light duty gasoline and diesel powered cars and trucks that are registered in Davidson County are required to undergo annual emissions testing. There are a small group of vehicles that are exempt from this testing which include:

1. Heavy duty vehicles weighing more than 10,500 GVWR
2. Motorcycles
3. Brand new vehicles that are being registered for the
   first time
4. Antique motor vehicles
5. Electric vehicles, excluding all hybrids which also utilize combustion engines to generate power
6. Gasoline powered vehicles, that are light duty, and were built prior to 1975

Emissions Testing Fees

• The testing fee is currently $9.00. (No bills larger than $20.00 are accepted) Cash, personal checks and credit cards are accepted.
• Motor vehicles that pass will receive a vehicle inspection report that includes a certificate of compliance.
• Motor vehicles that don’t pass the emissions testing will receive a vehicle inspection report that indicates why the vehicle failed the test.
